This is a very serious subject and something that we definitely need to discuss!! Ganache, what is there to say....actually not a lot. It goes with everything, it can be used a gizillion different ways, it is rich, it is delicious, it is the easiest thing you will ever make and as long as you stir it on a medium heat...you just can't mess it up!! It is that simple.
Now if you ever come to my house and I do not have chocolate in cupboard and thickened cream in my fridge...ring the authorities immediately, something is serious wrong ,or you have just caught me on a really off day... which is more likely. These two ingredients are a constant staple in my house as I use them in pretty much everything I do. However, put them together on their own and they are a match made in paradise.
So how to serve ganache? Well that is quite simple, hot, cold, whipped and piped onto cupcakes or in a cake, spooned into cookie cups topped with cream to make a delightful petit four, serve as a hot fudge sauce to take your dessert to the next level or as a dipping sauce for fruit....the list goes on and on, there is no limit to the talents of Ganache.
Simply make and serve however you like, it will be divine, every single time!
Chocolate Ganache
400g dark chocolate morsels (of milk if you like your ganache with a little less punch).
1 1/2 cups thickened cream
Put both in a saucepan on the stove, set to a medium heat and stir until it has all melted. Keep stirring and do not leave unattended, it WILL burn.
That is it! You can serve immediately as a sauce or put in the fridge to set and serve later.
